Priscilla News - September 4th 2019
Leaving Lake Wuruma we drove through Mt Perry to Gin Gin, then onto “The Summit” outside the town of 1770. I found this new site on Wikicamps. The manager told us,
‘Keep going straight and up the hill to the top……’
Lovely Fathers Day with the Gladstone Gang
Poor Priscilla staggered up the very steep, dirt incline until we came to a small, flat area beside the ‘Dog House’. There was just room for 3 caravans on this knob. But then….once we had set up… a surfie Adonis appeared from the Summit with beer in hand to greet us. Chris, the owner of this idyllic 40 acres is not only a paddle boarder and surfer, but holds the record for the most dogs on a paddle board! He is a Dog Whisperer who trains dogs. Millie was in heaven to be a ‘free range’ dog at last!We were sad to miss the Friday night ‘Canine and Wine’ evening, where owners and dogs from the district come to socialise.
We reluctantly departed the following morning, creeping carefully down the hill and on our way to Agnes Waters, 1770 and then Gladstone to spend five nights in the driveway of our son and his family.
Anthony, being a caravan expert, enquired how things were going with Priscilla. We assured him everything was perfect. However, on closer examination he discovered that our fridge wasn’t working on the battery while we were driving.
‘Don’t worry Pa, I’ll fix it for you.’
Bless this boy, he spent Saturday and Sunday (Fathers Day) under the van and vehicle with tools and patience, like his father, to re-wire and fix this problem. After many trips to Bunnings, persistence with not one expletive uttered, it is now working perfectly and our freezer remains frozen. How lucky are we to have such a capable son? Thank you Anthony.
It was a very happy Father Day, once the work was done, when our two eldest grandchildren made a surprise visit from boarding school in Rockhampton. It was the best gift for their beloved dad, and also their grandparents and mother.
We are now settled at Kinka Beach near Yeppoon, for two nights. Millie is loving having an ‘off leash’ beach for her run.
My manuscript is with the editors, ready for the next phase of the publishing journey.Until next time…………happy days from the Nomadic
